Acne skin care begins from the inside
The skin is a major organ of elimination. It helps to rid your body of the toxins and harmful substances that you are exposed to or consume everyday from processed foods, additives, chemicals, pesticides, medicines, the air, products, and so on.
The typical modern lifestyle is full of ´dead foods´ along with thousands of other toxins. Modern medicine makes matters even worse by suppressing the symptoms with even more toxins. Modern personal care products bump up the problem too. In time, the body stops being able to process these toxins and becomes overloaded.
Sodium and potassium are minerals that are critical to cell function. But for them to work properly, they must be in balance. Our ancestors consumed low sodium, high-potassium diets. Their sodium / potassium ratio was a healthy 1:4, which was the result of eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Our current ratio is reversed to an unhealthy 4:1, the result of too much salt (especially in processed foods) and not enough fruits and vegetables. Cells function as little batteries. They have an electrical charge created by the difference in the amount of potassium inside the cell and the amount of sodium outside. By changing the sodium/potassium ratio in our diet, and consequently inside each cell, we damage the ´battery of life´ and interfere seriously with the body's self-regulation and repair functions.
When your digestive system can't clear away all the toxins, it can become impacted with waste and bad bacteria. It becomes like a hazardous waste site where bad bacteria thrive off the decaying toxic materials. This toxic filth eventually leaks into your bloodstream and gets circulated around your whole body.
A knock on effect takes place that ultimately affects every major body function.
Another big source of toxins is those that are actually made inside the body. In response to eating mainly cooked and refined foods (dead foods), the body produces unhealthy mucus and becomes increasingly acidic. Excess acidity is very common and it eventually leads to decay and disease. The body operates normally within a very fine PH range and outside of this many essential functions become compromised.
"The colon is a sewage system, but by neglect and abuse it becomes a cesspool. When it is clean and normal, we are well and happy; let it stagnate, and it will distill the poisons of decay, fermentation and putrefaction into the blood, poisoning the brain and nervous system so that we become mentally depressed and irritable; it will poison the heart so that we are weak and listless; poisons the lungs so that the breath is foul; poisons the digestive organs so that we are distressed and bloated; and poisons the blood so that the skin is sallow and unhealthy. In short, every organ of the body is poisoned, and we age prematurely, look and feel old, the joints are stiff and painful, neuritis, dull eyes and a sluggish brain overtake us; the pleasure of living is gone."
Dr. Bernard Jensen, D.C., Ph.D.
It all starts with the colon (large intestine)
When the colon becomes toxic itself from by-products of chemicals in foods and poor digestion, fermentation, and rotting food, greater amounts of these toxins enter into the blood stream. Now it is the job of the liver and kidneys to clean these toxins out of the blood.
Followed by the Liver, Kidneys & Lymph
When the liver or kidneys cannot keep up with the toxic load, the skin will serve as an organ of elimination. As these toxins leave the body through the skin, a variety of problems or ´disease' states like acne can appear.
Then the Immune System
Now that the colon is impacted with waste material and toxins, the blood is impure, and the liver and kidneys cant keep up with cleaning things up, the entire body becomes weaker and weaker. Immune function is compromised and you become susceptible to all kinds of immune disorders. Your body´s natural defenses are comprised and bacteria are viruses that wouldn´t normally cause any problems at all, suddenly become a major problem.
"In the 50 years I've spent helping people to overcome illness, disability and disease, it has become crystal clear that poor digestion & toxic overload lies at the root of most people's health problems."
Dr Bernard Jensen
Traditional medical doctors hardly receive any education related to nutritional support for the elimination and detoxification processes in the body. When was the last time you heard of a medical doctor putting a patient on a cellular, liver, or colon cleanse? Instead their focus is upon using drugs that suppress or "hide away" symptoms.
Common sense and logic shows that if a natural living organism (such as you) consumes or absorbs more toxins, chemicals, and disease causing foods than their elimination and detoxification systems can handle, there will be congestion and a loss of vibrant health will become apparent.
Top tips for acne prevention through healthy digestion
Use detox supplementsDetox supplements help to cleanse and purify the blood, liver, kidneys, and digestive system. They work at a cellular level helping the digestive system to repair and rebuild itself. |
Replenish friendly bacteria.Probiotics make it easy to kill off bad bacteria and replace them with good bacteria, throughout the digestive system. It a healthy person, the balance of good bacteria to bad should be around 80:20. Now days, most people have the opposite balance. There are many types of probiotics on the market, most of which simply aren't powerful enough to make a difference. |
Supplement with a superfoodThey are packed with wild grasses, algae, and other living plant forms that are bursting with ´life fuel´. In case you are wondering about mass marketed multi-vitamins, their effectiveness is questionable. Why? Because they are isolated using manufacturing processes that strip the vitamins of their nutritional value. It´s always best to stick with things the way they´re provided in nature. |
Cut down on junk foodBuy organic foods whenever possible. Non-organic fruits and vegetables are sprayed with toxic chemicals hundreds of times during their short life time, so avoid these as much as possible. Keep consumption of junk to a minimum and eat lots of fruit and vegetables. Some of the most toxic foods to avoid include sodas, candy, sugar, white bread, white rice, dairy products, and alcohol. |
Always drink lots of waterBottled mineral water is best as tap water is often contaminated with toxins. |
Cut down on animal products meat and dairyCutting down your consumption of meat can have real health benefits. Beef and other animal products including chicken, dairy, and eggs are not always safe for human consumption. Modern animals consume pesticides, fertilizers, genetically engineered foods, antibiotics, growth hormones and other chemicals, thus making their flesh toxic. The same is true for most dairy products including milk and cheese. |
Eat more raw foodsDue to the influence of cooking, protein molecules in food become altered. This process is called the Maillard reaction. When you cook an egg or fry potato slices, you can clearly see those molecular changes. The egg white turns white, and fried potato slices are crunchy and are locally browned. These altered protiens are extremely difficult for the body to process and cause lymph congesiton, place burden on the liver, and weaken the immune system. The idea is to cut down on cooked foods and eat more raw foods, particlaurly fruits which contain vitmains, minerals, enzymes and good fats. Supplementing with enzymes can be very useful in the fight against acne as they help to break down damaged proteins. |
Summary
Making so many changes can be confusing and expensive, so here is our advice restated in simple terms. Anything that has been processed, refined or manufactured is bad for you. Anything that is as close as possible to the state nature provides it in, is better for you. Even if you adjust the good to bad balance a little, it will help.
